MNSS7™, a centralized SS7 monitoring system from ZCTT, is used for real-time SS7 network monitoring, signaling data collection and network analysis to help operation of SS7 and its upper service as well as carrying value-added serive.

With full compliance to ITU-T TMN standard, MNSS7™ provides rich application solutions of performance management, configruation management, accounting management, fault management, security management in entire network (PSTN, GSM, CDMA, GPRS, NGN) on network management and service management level.

Completely new maintenance experience is introduced by MNSS7™: system contunually monitors network in a central location and captures network data that you are interested in; Users with different rights from various network areas can access and operate the system via LAN/WAN connection; Prominent Multiple-Protocol-Leg correlation analysis capability of MNSS7™ refreshes end-to-end service analysis.

The system, MNSS7™, consists of three segments: Signaling Data Accessing Part, Signaling Data Collection Part, and Application Processing Part:

Signaling links are centralized and tranferred to central site via cross-connection device SuperDXC at remote site through transmission network in Signaling Data Accessing Part.

Signaling Data Collection Part, composed of signaling monitoring probe, server and LAN, renders signaling data collection, initial processing and storage conducing to providing signaling message stat, Call Detail Records, Transaction Detail Records and signaling message data satisfying the specific conditions to Application Processing Part.

Application Processing Part, consisting of site server, central server and operation terminal logically, makes use of the data collected by foregoing processing to generate the Call Detail Records (CDR) and Transaction Detail Records (TDR), and inserts them into database with the addition of calculation taking statistic of and sorting on data of different application activated by operators.

WAN network such as DCN, DDN, X.25 and FR considering only the transmission connection between SuperDXC of Signaling Data Access Part and signaling monitoring probe of Signaling Data COllection Part support retransmit to ensure intactness of application data.

MNSS7™ provides various applications for different service and entities of NMC concerned about network alarm, network traffice, call service, mobile service, wireless cell optimization, IN service, GPRS service, CDMA service, SS7 protocol analysis and call trace as well as value-added service, such as SMS Welcome, integrated in MNSS7™

Alam Management Module : AM
AM provides network alarm message real-time processing and historical query, which helps maintenance engineer master network operation status, find potential network fraud, repair alarming link and partial points in good season, so as to reduce alarm and improve service quality.

AM shows monitored signaling network with network topology, in which the status of SP, STP, signaling linkset and signal link is displayed with different color. When frauds or alarms come out, AM prompts engineer with special configrable audible and visible alarm.

Alarm and fraud information referred to fraud/alarm management module for further porcessing like statistics and query by engineer is classified into three groups as network management alarm, link alarm, and service quality alarm. Engineer can divide the whole objects managed to different domains for convinience of individual are management.

Message Throughput Analysis Module : MTA
MTA provides real-time displaying of Erl of signaling point, linkset and link, count and Octets of MSU (SIO and SIF bytes), SNT, SNM, TUP, ISUP, SCCP and TCAP. Operator can find abnormal message throughput fluctuation and warned of occurrence of abnormal service status sythetically.

Historical statistics is also implemented by system to supply the operator tools to obtain the information of long-term netwrok operation based on counters of all statistics item with customized functionalities like sorting and comparing. Network optimization and development planning is achieved through combined analysis.

Message types, operation reason and utilization rate of signaling routing of MTP/SCCP/TCAP layer help user master performance of MTP/SCCP/TCAP, escalate routing utilization.

Call Detail Analysis Module : CDA
CDA is a suite of sophisticated tools used to analyze information generated by the MNSS7™ Data Record Application. The applications are directed to a number of defferent tasks:

Call Service Efficiency Inspection : statistics and analysis on call completion, circuit seizure and call answer. By contrast analysis of multi-direction call, it help user get information about call quantity and service quality of TUP/ISUP. Detailed analysis of low call completion rate from various view like DPC/OPC, switch code and period with further analysis of call loss cause is included so that at whole circumstantialities can be impressed on.

Circuit Usage Inspection : to find out unreasonable circuit seizure, locate circuit contesting by analysis of call duration, circuit dual-seizure and network responding time of circuit and PCM combined with Maintenance & Blocking-originated TUP/ISUP message processing related to different DPC/OPC and switch code.

User Activities Inspection: distilling particular call activities by detecting ultra-long call, ultra-short call, ultra-frequent call, abnormal caller number and calling number. This function enable the operator to handle user behavior and enterprise behavior, find out important customers and potential customers as well as abnormal user behavior so as to avoid fraud.

By querying call record and running real-time call trace (Call Trace Module), MNSS7™ is penetrating with call process and user behavior to equip the operator with powerful trouble shooting and service analysis tools for higher service quality and lower customer denouncement.

Mobile Service Analysis : MSA
MSA, aiming at MAP service of network, includes functionalities to following objects:

  • Mobility Performance
  • Call Supporting Quality
  • SMS Management
  • Handover Performance
  • SS Quality
  • USSD Quality
  • Other Service.

Time-sharing analysis, contract analysis of service quality in days of MAP operation, which contains operation count, successful operation count, failed operation count and detailed reason of failures, can be implemented to support the optimization of network configuration and service update. Understanding influence on network service quality caused by mobile turning on/off, detaching and roaming can be achieved by specific statistics on user ID such as IMSI and MSISDN.

To enlighten operator on status of MAP entities including HLR, VLR, MSC/SMSC and the suchlike, MSA help user understand HLR additional service of various entities, usage of USSD, VLR roaming quality, quantity and quality of MSC calling in/out, quality of in-MSC handover and its reason, and all such of SMSC.

Base Station Cell Optimization Module : BCO
Station on data from A and A-bis interface for probing base station subsystem performance on various interworking such as location refresh, service switch and mobile phone calling in/out is implemented.

Detailed inspection of radio cell coverage, interference, equipment failure, dropped call and handover is made to detect and locate area and reason of operation failure or degradation of network service. For example, analysis of following objects are realized in virtue of BCO :

  • call drop
  • channel blocking
  • assign failure
  • paging failure
  • circuit reset and blocking
  • SDCCH service quality
  • TCH service quality

In Service Analysis Module : ISA
To support IN network performance verification and service quality, ISA introduce following analysis functionalities :

  • SSP/SCP capacity inspection: time-sharing CAPS statistics of SCP, SSP switch, INAP service and CAP (WIN) service, which could help user master call processing ability of SSP/SCP switch and decide whether expanding capability or not.
  • Service usage monitoring: classifying service statistics of SCP call, recharging and query, time-sharing, distributing analysis of various IN service throughput of SCP/SSP to find out the usage of various IN service and conduct future service development. Enquiring IN call service records, statitics and analysis of call duration and fee is designed for improving IN service utilization rate, mastering influence on network caused by user behavior as well as identifying VIP customer.
  • Operation quality monitoring: analysis on BCSM event release reason, BCSM call loss reason, INAP and CAP (WIN) ooperation error for confirming IN operation faults caused by network or user.

GPRS Service Analysis Module: GSA
GSA provides real-time data collection and analysis of Gb, Gn, Gl and Gp Interface in GPRS service network and analyzes GPRS QoS of service, failure location, signaling flow and load.

  • Gb link performance including link fraud and load is the important index of examining GRPS network operation status. To find out existing problems in network equipment and unreasonable network plan, so as to provide direct data and comparative information of links, BSC load by historical analysis and multi-day contrast analysis for network optimization, network expansion and network maintenance.
  • GSA provides statistics and analysis of user operation, so as to get utilization information of user service and be convenient for market strategy. Operator can get ulterior analysis from collected transaction messages, which includes:
    • Start time
    • User ID
    • Process result, Failure reason
    • Process duration, Response Delay, Round Trip Delay, and connection speed.

Quick location of reason of low network service quality is primary systematic function based on following conditions with help from multi-port messages correlation function on Gn/Gb :

  • Service category: attaching, switching and communicatin etc.
  • Exchange Code: by IP address
  • Link setting: link, BVCI, BSC
  • Bandwidth analysis supplies the functionality for throughout statistics on time scale and channel scale, by which the operator can easily find out the potential fault and performance degradation in user data connection service resulted by radio environment or network configuration.

CDMA Service Analysis Module : CSA
CSA mainly applies to CDMA network optimization and performance analysis in both voice part and packet data part by :

  • Signaling testing analysis: besides proper functionalities supplied for GSM service in MSA ISA and BCO, specific signaling maintenance of MAP and BSSAP service for CDMA domain such as analysis on soft handover quality and MIN user behavior is in array of CSA.
  • Packet service analysis: analysis of R-P interface signaling, PPP signaling, mobile IP, PDSN performance, Round Trip QoS so as to solve problems such as failing to access, low data speed and linking break.

Protocol Analysis & Call Trace Module : PACT
Multi-protocol decoder in the system provides a multiple protocol browser supporting multiple signaling process display.

Call trace aiming at multiple protocols, messages and errors with tens of specified filters according to different protocol layers obtains and correlates complete protocol messages, which reflect whole operation process of network entities concerned to a specific event like voice call, GPRS package data transmitting and consist of any or combination of protocol SNT, SNM, TUP, ISUP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, CAP, INAP, BSSAP, Abis, Mobis and GPRS (Gb/Gn/Gi), to supply analytical approach for network trouble shooting and process flow verification.

SMS Welcome Application Module : SMSW
Not only maintaining-oriented applications but also Value-added application, as SMSW here, are developed in MNSS7™. SMSW sends SMS message with specified content to roaming user according to his or her roaming characters :

  • Welcome message to roaming-in user
  • Good-bye message to roaming-out user
  • Network service tip to roaming-in user
  • Commercial service information such as hotel living and car renting to roaming-in

For more flexible and progitable run, the SMSW is definitely equipped with following features :
